TED x Danubia @ Uránia, Budapest

TED conferences has been converging Technology, Entertainment and Design, covering ever timely, global issues since 1984. With a self-organized event, ideas worth spreading arrive in Budapest on the 15th of May.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. With 18 minute talks by the world’s leading thinkers and doers, these conferences are heralds of positive thinking, collaboration and knocking down borders. From 2006 on, every TED talk can be streamed online, and TED speakers have included for example Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

These speeches make you look at the world from a different angle. From economic issues to scientific developments, from deeper understanding of the human condition to the newest forms of art, TED conferences have everything to take your breath away.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. From 2010 on, Budapest has joined the initiative hosting TEDxDanubia – wherein Danubia symbolizes the cross-border and interdisciplinary communication and thinking of our region. Focusing on the only one thing that’s sure in our time: uncertainty – The Age of Uncertainty is the theme of this year’s TEDx event, organized at Uránia on the 15th of May.

Uránia cinema is the host of TEDxDanubia for the 4th time, and after the success of past years, the event’s gotten sold out 2 weeks early, on the 30th of April.

The whole day event starts with 3 to 9 minute talks of the TEDxUniversity morning session, where former speakers or attendees will share their intriguing ideas, then three sessions (Living Together, Progress Enigma, Changing the Game) will be held with various topics, and inspiring conversation breaks.

Professionals and enthusiast experts will discuss opportunities and possible solutions in our ever changing times, when everything seems to be temporary, a merging biological and technological revolution is transforming our reality, and the amount of information and choices is overwhelming. The conference aims to offer new perspectives on how to survive and prosper today, and gives us an update on current scientific knowledge.
