Christmas programs

Christmas is traditionally the family feast of love, what we celebrate at home with our loved ones.

But there may be cases, when the great encounter is still not possible, for example due to some 10.000 km distance. Or maybe we desire something more colorful besides the family gathering, other than eat ourselves sick or listen the uncles bickering. In this compilation we show some ideas if you want to escape a little from the large family celebration and celebrate Christmas in a smaller circle, for example, with your partner.

Theatre – Ballet

There are few more classical Christmas story than E. T. A. Hoffmann’s Nutcracker, which became widely known and recognized with Tchaikovsky's ballet of the same title. Although it is originally a fairy tale for children, but the story, the wonderful music and the choreography became classical touch the heart of people for all ages. This ballet is played every Christmas in the theaters around the world, in the Hungarian State Opera House too. We could see Nutcracker on all three days of Christmas, and due to being a morning matinee from 11 am, it doesn’t even affect the evening program.

Restaurant - instead of all day cooking

We absolutely understand if you don’t want to spend the feast of love in the kitchen like a cooking robot. Onyx, one of the three Michelin starred restaurants of Hungary awaits hungry visitors with a special Christmas Eve dinner on December 24, but they are not the only ones. Another personal favorite, the French Araz Restaurant is preparing for the celebration with festive menu with matching wines to create the most memorable night of the year in an intimate atmosphere.

Christmas cruise on the Danube

Developing the previous category, we’ve found a really unique opportunity. In Budapest there is possibility to take a shipping on the Danube on Christmas Eve, spiced with gourmet food and live music. This program is designed for those who would be happy to consume their dinner in a romantic atmosphere: admiring the panoramic view of the city while eating delicious dishes. Under the two-hour cruise, a perfect hot buffet styled dinner is provided. It totally worth it, the Budapest panorama is listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. It’s a unique experience to try. If you spend your holiday season in Budapest, don’t miss it.

But choose any of them, or just enjoy the warmth of home, we wish you a blessed and peaceful Christmas!
