DVNA
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Apr 15, 2016

Imagine that you’ve just arrived to Budapest, and river Danube is gone. And also the people.

Danube is a defining natural element of Budapest, connects and separates the two sides, determines the city’s image. We don’t even notice how much integral part of our lives it is. Until it disappears. Tamás Yvan Topolánszky processes this dystopia in his first film DVNA (‘Danube’): what would happen if we were wake up one morning and the Danube has dried out completely during the night. New Hungarian sci-fi on the horizon.

The Danube film is based on an older nightmare, and the idea is really macabre. In the post-apocalyptic movie the river is the artery of the city (as it is in the reality) and when it disappears from one day to the next, everting changes. The population is trying to adapt to the new situation, but quickly realize their inability to live like this. Finally, only six people remain in Budapest, a city that has become a ghost town in no time without its river. They are unable to hit the road due to various reasons and now they are forced to get to know each other. As the story unfolds, it turns out: one of them had met this prophecy about the Danube's disappearance in his childhood…

The film can be ready by November 2017. The creators would like to gauge the possible future success through the teaser (as this method has been proven with many European productions), so watch, like, share and comment, because we really want to see the end of this story.
