Do you know what a “hungaricum” is? You can see, or even taste these Hungarian specialities at Hungaricum Weekend in Buda Castle, between 24-27 July.
Schnaps, Tokaji wine, lamb stew Karcag style, Budapest Gypsy Hungary Orchestra, operetta. Just some of the so-called hungaricums you can see, listen to, or even taste at Hungaricum Weekend in Buda Castle, between 24-27 of July.
The Hungaricum Weekend is a cultural and gastronomic festival to show Hungary’s national values, and intends to show these to tourists and Hungarians, as well. The 41 hungaricums (real treasures and specialities of Hungary) are not so well-known by the Hungarians – this is what the Hungaricum Weekend aims to change.

The event is organized at the time of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, with the intention of attracting as many visitors as possible to Buda Castle to the Hungaricum Weekend. It’s not a race with the fastest cars of the world – it is rather a cooperation.
In this period of the year, there are approximately 200 thousand visitors owing to Formula 1, from which 80% are foreigners. The tourists spend 3,1 days in Hungary in average. So if they have time for having just one programme besides the Formula 1 race, Hungaricum Weekend should be the one, because everyone can get to know Hungary the quickest and the most amusing way here.

So if you have the possibility to spend some time in Budapest between 24-27 July, visit Buda Castle and take a look at the Halas lace, the Herend and Zsolna porcelain, or taste schnaps, Csaba sausage and fat goose.
The event offers several cultural programs, too. You can listen to the performers of the „Fölszálott a Páva” Hungarian talent show, you can see folk dance goups, or listen to the artists of the Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre and the Budapest Gypsy Hungary Orchestra. A colourful event with lots of hungaricums – don’t miss it.
