If you would like to spend a nice spring evening with good drinks, cool music and the unique feeling of a Hungarian summer festival, then try the Beer Tent in Budapest.
If you spend a couple of days in Budapest and you have some free time maybe you would like to go out for the evenings. And if so, what about a nice evening in a big beer tent, with good drinks, nice music and the unique feeling of Hungarian summer festivals?
That’s what the Beer Tent, the so-called ‘Sörsátor’ is offering you since 1988, from the end of March till the end of September. The place, located in the City Park (Városliget), in the neighbourhood of the beautiful Széchenyi fürdő and the Vajdahunyad vár, is really popular among the young and the elder people, too. You might arrive by foot, by car, by public transport, or by bike, as well, and a lot of people do so.
Not only the nice area is attractive for everyone, but the good beverages, too. If you would like to taste a good, cold beer you can try six types of draft beer – Dreher, Dreher Bak, Pilsner Urquell, HB wheat beer, Kozel and the Hungarian Arany Ászok. You can also taste Hungarian specialities from the menu, for example pig knuckle, sausages and beer nuts.
With the nice drinks and food, you can also enjoy good music. For example, on the 11th of April, there will be a ‘rock evening’ at the Beer Tent: two Hungarian rock bands will get the stage, SLT – Stuff Like That and Csákvári Laca Band.
Stuff Like That is a rock group formed in 2010 but the current line-up has been playing together for almost 3 years. They play their own songs and dapple their shows with covers from bands like The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, Nickelback etc.
The other rock band, Csákvári Band makes a little bit longer excursion to the alternative rock fields. The front man, László Csákvári is the lead singer of the U2 – Station Tribute Band and Room Service – Bryan Adams Tribute Band, which one is the most popular Bryan Adams cover band in Europe.
But in Csákvári Band, formed in 2013, they play mostly their own songs, the lyrics written by Péter Gál, with some of their favourite songs included to the playlist, for example songs from The Police, Sting, Coldplay, or from The Cranberries.
Both of the bands have big plans for the future, including studio recordings. Now, they are waiting for the festival season and the possibility of having more concerts and meeting their audience, not only in Budapest, but in different places, different towns, as well.
