Springtime means several things, and among others, it’s the time of Budapest Spring Festival. Concerts, theatrical acts, exhibitions and several other programs will take place in multiple locations in the city.
Budapest Spring Festival is one of the city’s and Hungary’s most significant cultural event. This almost one month long festival offers everything you might wish: classical music, opera, jazz and folk music, world music, crossover, dance and theatre performances, and even a fashion competition will entertain us. During this period, Budapest becomes the cultural center of Europe for the 37th. The festival has different themes in every year: this year’s is the Austro–Hungarian Compromise, which was made 150 years ago, as well as the period that followed, that of the dual monarchy. The organizers announced a related fashion competition, so we sure won’t get bored. The other focal point of the festival is the 135th anniversary of the birth of Zoltán Kodály: the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble pays tribute to his researcher work in folk music with a new premiere.
Date: 31 March – 23 April
