Á la Maison – the perfect place to have breakfast in Budapest
Posted by Mia Balogh · May 13, 2015

When was the last time you really enjoyed having breakfast? You can do so in Budapest, by tasting lots of delicious salty and sweet dishes, if you visit Á la Maison, the newest place in Nádor Street.

Á la Maison is a French expression, which means At Home. What can you have at home? For example a nice breakfast, with your family and friends. Undisturbedly, enjoying yourself, tasting all the nice dishes on your table.

Nowadays, this is a rare experience, what we can enjoy on holidays, or even more rarely. But if you arrive to Budapest, and you would like to get up a bit later, and have a relaxed breakfast somewhere in the city centre, you should visit Á la Maison. This is a really nice spot in the 5th district, in Nádor Street, near St. Stephen’s Basilica.

By entering the place, you will notice the nice parlour and the French-vintage atmosphere and we are sure that you will like it. The ceiling is restored to its original state - this is one of the features that make Á la Maison unique, already in the first minute after entering.

If you take a look at the salty and sweet selection, we are sure that it won’t be easy for you to choose. We suggest you to look at the salty dishes first, and choose for example something from the egg plates. Would you like to taste ham and eggs, classic French breakfast plate or egg-coated bread?

Are you a fan of simplicity? Then buy a sandwich or try their wraps. For the real gourmets, we suggest the breakfast of the house, which is popular among those who would like to taste a wine-marinated duck liver paté.

The sweet selection is to mention here, as well, because their croissants baked on site, the brioches, waffles, cupcakes, American pancakes, cakes and the cookies are so delicious that after having one, you will ask for more.

If you are on a diet, and you feel now that you should avoid the place, you are wrong: they think of those who would choose from a more healthy selection, as well. You can try their strawberry-mint detox water for example, or have your coffee with plant-based milks. Or if you feel that you can’t resist all these sweet treats here, ask a nice coffee for take away.

If you would like to have a menu here for lunch, you can have a soup and a sandwich, or a soup with salad. Take it, sit out to the terrace of Á la Maison and enjoy the beautiful early summer day in Budapest.

You can do it with your family, your best friends or even with your little friend who has four legs, because this spot is absolutely dog friendly.
