You can get special dishes for really affordable prices, sometimes even in the restaurants that are said to be more exclusive. Now we show you where to go for menus like this in the downtown of Budapest.
Konyha
Konyha means kitchen in Hungarian, and it is not a coincidence: if you visit this place (you can find it between Deák Square and Gozsdu Court), you will find out why. They have several menu possibilities, you can choose among their two course meals for 1850 HUF, or three course meals for 2150 HUF. The dishes created by Krisztián Huszár are made of the best fresh ingredients and raw materials that you can order and eat in a friendly atmosphere. Try it once and you will return.

ARAZ
This spot doesn’t seem like a place in which you can just drop in, especially with its posh exterior, but you should give it a try and check the two course meals for 1390 HUF and the three course meals for 1590 HUF. The dishes are really delicious and a portion - created by multi-award winner chef Aron Barka - is enough even if you are hungry. Our tip: don’t forget to make a reservation even for lunch. If you can’t do it, or you don’t have 40-45 minutes to enjoy your meal here, you can also ask your lunch for take away.
Address: 7th district, Dohány Street 42-44.

Pesti Disznó
With the quite unusual name that means “the pork of Pest”, Pesti Disznó is the first Hungarian tapas bar with a huge wine offer and a design kitchen. The name suggests that many of their dishes are made of pork meat but if you don’t like this type of meat, don’t worry, you can choose many other dishes to try here. Their daily menu offers different soups that are really delicious and a main course that can be pork meat or for example chicken breast or chicken liver. We suggest you check out the place because of the good prices: a two course meal costs 1190 HUF or if you ask for a drink, as well, it is 1490 HUF. The restaurant also has a nice atmosphere and design that take us to France or Spain maybe; it doesn’t remind us of Budapest or Nagymező Street at all.
Address: 6th district, Nagymező Street 19.

Onyx
The luxurious lunch of Onyx is available in menu form, as well. A three course meal costs 8990 HUF and an extra 15% is charged for the service. There are three types of appetizers, four types of main dishes and three types of desserts. Two dishes of each type are also on the current menu which means that their price might be higher than expected, sometimes an extra of 4000 forints can be charged for one single dish. You have to make your reservation if you’d like to get a table, you have to arrive before 2pm for the lunch offers and you should spend here at least 60 minutes. There is a dress code as well so be prepared for that if you would like to taste the dishes of a restaurant that has earned a Michelin star status.
Address: 5th district, Vörösmarty Square 7-8.
