Why are Hungarian chimney cakes so popular in Florida?

Anikó Gulyás started baking 4 years ago in Florida and her chimney cakes already have a reputation. What is her secret?

We have recently reported the success of the Langos Truck in New York – a truck that sells the traditional Hungarian fast food ‘lángos’ to the New Yorkers, fresh and warm. And now, we can unfold another success story of the Hungarian gastronomy: this is the short story of Anikó Gulyás, who lives in Sarasota, Florida for already 11 years. She started to bake at home 4 years ago after her twins were born. Her favourite sweets were always the chimney cakes so came the idea of her enterprise Kürtős Inc.

Anikó is a wholesaler who sells her goods to restaurants, but she is also present in local markets and fairs from time to time. She is so popular that there was an article about her and her chimney cakes in the local Sarasota Magazine.

What can be the secret of her success? In my opinion, chimney cakes are really nice and popular sweet treats and she must be baking delicious ones. Anikó says that the almond-, cinnamon- and coconut flavoured chimney cakes are the most popular ones but she is making some experiment with some new, salty flavoured ones, as well, for example pumpkin, bacon or cheese are on her list of eligible tastes, too.

Did you know?

New Zealand is on the other part of the planet but there are Hungarian people, as well, who have already reached some attention and success: Attila Kovács proved to the New Zealanders that Hungarian sausages are the best, everyone loves his products.
