Donal Skehan about Budapest gastro

Donal Skehan, the popular Irish gastro blogger visits 10 European cities to discover its gastronomic curiosities. In the first episode he came to Budapest and liked it!

Hungarian gastronomy is everywhere, even on a British TV channel, as Donal Skehan devoted the entire first part of his new series to Budapest. Skehan, who is very popular in the UK and in Ireland had several different gastronomic shows, his cook books and TV shows rival the popularity of Jamie Oliver’s. With his new series entitled „Follow Donal to Europe” the gastro blogger visits 10 European cities where he tries to taste as many things as he can and also meets some local gastro bloggers as well. The first part of the series presents Budapest, but Donal has also been to several European cities like Stockholm or Amsterdam, and visited some less well-known destinations such as Krakow or the Croatian Istria.

Which is now important for us is that Donal was amazed by Budapest, which he said is similar to Paris, just a little bit better. His first lunch was a goulash of course, which he found a bit spicy, then eat some rooster balls, but he liked chicken stew the most and garlic-cheese-sour cream covered scone, because as he said, he had never eaten such a thing before. He and his staff visited Fülemüle, Rachel Raj’s flodni place, and then tried out Cukorka. (We know that these places don’t mean anything to you, but watch the show on the web, worth it!) After all these, he had some palinka at Gourmet Festival accompanying with gipsy music and gushed enthusiastically about Hungarian architecture and gastronomy.
