THE GHOST II

Rolls-Royce is the ultimate manufacturer of cars. But that does not mean that they have the privilege of not keeping their models up to date at least we think. So do they.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II is a real luxury vehicle from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. It is named after the old Silver Ghost manufactured in 1906. Our cheekily elegant original Ghost was announced at the Auto Shanghai show in April 2009. Like they say it is a much more measured and more realistic car than the Phantom.

What can I say? Extraordinary. I always think – at least in the case of cars – that always the previous version is the better. In this case I had to change my mind fast. This version of Rolls-Royce Ghost looks the best. This car is pure and simple. Modern luxury itself. The headlights of a car are his eyes and they are not just showing you the right way. They can say a lot. Check out that dramatic look! Hypnotising, isn't it?

The design represents clean and luxurious elegance mixed with modern technology. The shapes are just perfect. Simply precise. It has a long, intimidating front. Not too surprising, a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 needs some space. Sounds truly powerful. Let's say it is rather scary. If you would like to drag something big and heavy (like a cargo ship or Budapest's Saint Stephen's Basilica) Rolls-Royce Ghost II is a wise choice. The engine is attached to an eight-speed automatic Satellite Aided Transmission. That was first seen on a model of Rolls-Royce called the Wraith. We could honestly call it a 'smart-transmission' because it knows what kind of road you are on and it chooses the perfect conditions for the driving situation. Where to, sir?

The optional Dynamic Drive package utilizes the new redesigned front and the rear struts and a brand new steering gear and a thick steering wheel to help you keep this overpowered demon on the road. Not to mention the air-cooled front brakes under the sturdy 19-inch standard wheels (the 21-inchers are optional). Top class safety and comfort. It helps you and lets you drive. Nothing can disturb the perfect harmony between you and the car. Just you, the car and the road. The ultimate driving experience from the ultimate automobile. Is there anything else you need? I don't think so. (Okay, how about an extra Rolls monogram on the stainless-steel fuel-filler cap? You got it too.)

What can we find inside? I'm glad you asked. Well, at first you will fall in love. The dashboard is an amazing masterpiece. Those gentlemen who are working at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars had kept the original design of classic luxury, but high-end technology is integrated everywhere for you. Everything is about you and your passengers. The seats are extremely ergonomic and comfortable especially the row in the back. They can give you a nice massage and some heat of course. Like in an elegant lounge, right?

That is one thing that the pieces of the interior look simply fantastic. The other is they know everything. You name it, you got it. Rolls-Royce says there are on-board Wi-Fi, email, file sharing, phone and video-conferencing available. Just feel free to use your touchpad! You can even watch televised business news just to keep yourself well-informed, you know. Maybe this car is even smarter than us. Anyway, keep your eyes on the road!

Enough chit-chat, let's take a ride!
