3 best programs for Christmas
Posted by Ágnes Taraszovics · Dec 25, 2015

We reveal what you can do in Budapest if you spend the holidays here.

Christmas is a three-day holiday in Hungary, so we have very limited options both for shopping and entertainment between 24-26 December. Even malls close on 24 at midday, and they won’t even open until 27 December. But what can you do if you spend your holidays with your narrowest family or with your partner, far from the big kinship? For example:

Ice skating

There won’t be a white Christmas in Hungary this year, but if you want to feel real winter atmosphere, visit the City Park ice rink. This institution is only closed on 24 December, and opened on 25th between 10-14 and 16-20 hours, and between 10-14 and 16-21 hours on the 26th, for weekend ticket price.

Visit Advent Fairs:

One of the most intimate things you can do is to stroll in the advent fairs. There is everything we love: music, mulled wine and after Christmas Eve, there is no such big mass than before. Among these fairs, there are some, which is open even on holidays:

The one at Vörösmarty Square:

24 December: 10:00 - 15:00

25 - 26 December: 10:00 - 18:00

Városháza Park:

24 December: 10:00 - 14:00

25 - 26 December: 10:00 - 21:00

Time for yourself:

I have a whole „I should...” list in my head that I never have time to do. Dozens of books waiting to be read, clothes waiting to be scrapped, and movies for watch later… Familiar situation? There is no better time for hiding under the covers and watch all missed season of your favorite series than Christmas.
