Music festivals are the most popular, but food festivals are also a hit among Hungarians.

According to a representative survey conducted among 2000 Hungarian adults in June by Kutatópont, one-third of Hungarians are festival-goers. The rate was higher among younger Hungarians and stood at 53 per cent for 18 to 29-year-olds, at 48 per cent for 30 to 39-year-olds and also at 48 per cent for 40 to 49-year-olds. Pop music festivals were the most popular type among Hungarian festival-goers, followed by food festivals.

In Hungary, we have big and even internationally awarded festivals like Sziget and smaller festivals, such as the Valley of Arts and the Gourmet Festival – also the smaller cultural and gastronomic events begun to attract more and more people in the last few years.

This year, every major festival closed with a record number of visitors.
