The series of an Italian photographer beat the field.

The Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) is one on the most prestigious award of the photographer profession. TPOTY awards are run by photographers for photographers and both amateur or professional photographers can participate and the awards are judged by leading photographers and experts in the field. TPOTY-winning photographers have had their work showcased around the world: in 2016 and 2017 the touring exhibitions were seen by 250,000 visitors, while this year's exhibition programme has been visited by an estimated 1.8 million people.

In 2018 more than 20,000 entries from 142 countries were submitted by photographers and the members of the jury highlighted that the images perfectly represent the diversity of our colourful world. The main prize was awarded to the Italian Stefano Pensotti for his series of eight pictures, of which his photo at the Széchenyi Thermal Spa in Budapest became the absolute winner of the competition!

Wonderful moments captured on three continents make Stefano’s images both engaging and insightful in a rich and diverse portfolio that make him a worthy winner of the title of Travel Photographer of the Year 2018. These images give a real sense of being part of each scene rather than simply observational - says the justification. And we are just simply proud that more and more people will know about our beautiful bath.
