After beating Austria, they will head to the World Championship next year.
If you think of ice hockey, we are sure that Hungary is not among the best hockey player nations you think of at first. Well, it might change from now on, because the Hungarian women’s national ice hockey team beat Austria in the last match of the Division 1/A World Championships, held in Budapest recently. So for the first time in history, the girls will head to the World Championships next year. Amazing results, isn’t it? ;)
As nemzetisport.hu reported, Hungary started well against Austria, but Austria equalised in the first third of the match. In the second third, Hungary continued to dominate, but they didn’t manage to score again – just like Austria. We have to mention the fantastic work of the Austrian keeper, who had 31 saves throughout the match.
Hungary continued to direct proceedings in the final third, they wanted to do everything to win in front of the crowd of the sold-out Vasas Jégcentrum. Then in the final third, 10 minutes before the end of the match, Hungary scored via Bernadett Németh, and won the match.
This historical success means that Hungary is promoted to the 2020 World Championships for the first time, alongside Denmark.
