Coffee cup made from coffee: that's what we call zero waste!

The eco-friendly, reusable, take-away coffee cups arrived to Budapest.

Have you ever wondered how much damage the world causes by loving coffee that much? Starting from cultivation to delivery, including the empty capsules, there is a lot of harm we cause. Statistics say that we produce 500 billion (!) disposable coffee cups per year, which we use for five or ten minutes, then it goes to the trash. An Australian company found a super alternative to this: they make reusable coffee cups from a material that is the byproduct of coffee production.

During the making of coffee we drink, producers use the seed itself and often the fruit pulp surrounding it, but there is a third part no one knows about. The inner shell separating the seed and the pulp has gone to the trash until now. This is the so-called husk, that we throw away in 1.7 million tonnes a year. HuskeeCup, this reusable coffee cup is made from this waste material.

Thanks to its design, HuskeeCup knows everything we expect from a take-away cup: keeps the drink warm, but does not burn your hands thanks to its ribs. And the best part is that it works in an exchange system: we can bring it back to the coffee shop we bought it even without washing it. We will get our next coffee in a clean cup instead of the dirty old one. The cup is durable, dishwasher-proof, easy to clean, dries quickly, and so it's easy to fall in love with.

Since the Day of the Earth, you can buy HuskeeCup in 11 Budapest cafes: Bloom Coffee, By Beans Coffee, Csillaghegyi Megálló, Dorado Café, Dose Espresso, Double Shot (2 locations), Dynamo Bike & Bake, Fabrik Budapest, Horizon, Kontakt and Mantra Specialty Coffee Bar has joined the initiative so far to reduce the environmental impact of coffee consumption.

Take-away cups are available in three sizes (6, 8 and 12 oz) for 3490Ft / 3790Ft / 4190Ft in black and white. Of course, you will pay for them only one time because next time you give back your cup, and get a clean one in return.

Sounds great, doesn't it?
