Two metro stations closed in Budapest city centre
Posted by Mia Balogh · Mar 20, 2020

Due to reconstruction works, the Ferenciek tere and Arany János utca metro stations are closed from 9 March. Let us recommend some public transport options instead.

If you use the M3 ‘blue metro’ in Budapest these days, it might be useful for you to know that the reconstruction works of the city centre section of this metro line have started. From 9 March, two metro stations - the Ferenciek tere and Arany János utca -, the metro won’t stop at these stations.

Do you have to reach any of your destinations near one of these stations? Then we recommend you to use the following lines: tram 2 (it is running more frequently), as well as lines running on Budapest’s ‘Kiskörút’ Small Boulevard such as tram 47 and 49, bus 9 and trolleybus 72 during the weekends (trolleybuses 72 and 73 will run to Deák Ferenc tér). Buses 5, 7, 8E, 108E, 110, 112, 133E and 178, operating on Rákóczi út are also good options to reach Ferenciek tere.

The two ‘blue line’ metro stations mentioned above will remain closed until the southern section of the metro line is finished, and the section between Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér is closed. We don’t know the exact date but it is expected for the fall.
