After co-hosting the event this year, Budapest will be the host of MTV European Music Awards in 2021, as well.
You must have heard that this year’s MTV European Music Awards gala was co-hosted by London and our capital on 8 November but we have some even bigger news: in 2021, Budapest will host the full event! This is pretty cool, right?
This year, we think that Budapest proved to the world that we really deserve this opportunity. Hungarian supermodel Barbara Palvin and French DJ-producer David Guetta emceed the MTV EMA from our capital.
‘The Széchenyi Baths was the backdrop for a performance of Guetta’s hit Let’s Love with the British singer-songwriter Raye, and the Hungarian cities of Veszprém and Esztergom had cameos in the online show’ – Hungarytoday.com writes.

The 2020 MTV EMAs were hosted by Little Mix and feature performances for example from Alicia Keys, Sam Smith, Maluma, YUNGBLUD, Doja Cat, Zara Larsson, Karol G, Little Mix, Madison Beer and 24kGoldn.
The event has been broadcasted from European cities since 1994, but in our region, Budapest was the first city to co-host the MTV EMAs which now draws the attention of around 1 billion people from 180 countries.
