Special design exhibition in the metro lines of Budapest

You can find works of art in museums, galleries, and even in some places you’ve never thought before – owing to a special initiative, it is possible in the metro lines of Budapest, too, from 15 September to 15 November.

If you would like to see an exhibition, we suppose that you visit a museum or an art gallery. But sometimes you find works of art in places you’ve never thought before. For example, if you visit Budapest this fall, you can see placards and other unique design pieces in the metro lines of the city.

The special exhibition is called Future/Present (Jövő/Jelen) and it presents more than 30 diploma works of students who have finished their studies at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) in Budapest recently. The list of these diploma works include posters in the trains of metro 2, 3 and 4, which reflect the thoughts and dreams of the artists about urban life and public transport.

For example, you can see a transparent, eco-friendly bus or a smokestack-apartment, but there are animations, textile- and fashion designs and different objects planned, as well. In our opinion, one of the most interesting of these objects is the rikshaw designed by Tamás Erdélyi, which can be found in the Stadionok metro station of metro 2. The vehicle looks really unique and offers alternative for transport and transportation in the city.

The new exhibition of MetroArt Gallery can be seen from 15 September to 15 November in metro lines of Budapest – except for the line of metro 1. So you can see how the youngest designers think about urban life, and how talented and versatile they are. And the whole experience is available for you just for the price of one single ticket, 350 forints (around 1 euro).
