Nyugati Railway Station closes for 2 weeks

Trains plying detoured from 22 June due to renovation.

A few months after the forced shutdown of Déli Railway Station at spring now we have to say goodbye to the Nyugati Railway Station for a while. Here, however, neither an accident, nor a collapsing retaining wall, but a pre-planned track repair is concerned. The renovation of the railway station cannot be delayed any further. Moreover, the maintenance work effects all areas: the tracks, the rail changers, the interlocking system managing the flow of traffic, the catenaries, the passenger platforms and the station building, therefore, the experts decided to solve the situation with the derecognition of traffic.

The railway company will introduce a provisional timetable during the term of working; other stations will launch the trains.

  • Trains coming from Záhony border are plying to Kőbánya-Kispest.
  • Intercity trains from Debrecen–Nyíregyháza-Miskolc are coming till Zugló.
  • The temporary terminus of the Veresegyház–Vác railway line will be in Rákospalota-Újpest.
  • ICs from Szeged are arriving to Kelenföld instead of Nyugati, just as the trains from Székesfehérvár

Although international trains mainly arrive to the Keleti Railway Station, so they are not affected by the two-week shutdown, but it is an important change in the lives of tourists coming to Budapest either way.

In any case be informed about the schedule before departure at http://www.mavcsoport.hu/en.
