Vienna, Tokyo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Sydney – cities that can be found far behind Budapest on travel magazine Condé Nast’s actual reader’s list. The results show that there is only one place on Earth that can be more attractive for travellers...

Last year, Budapest was chosen second best city in Europe, so we are not very surprised to see that our capital is chosen the second best city in the world now, by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler. The well-known travel magazine asked their readers to vote, and they published their list, called Readers’ Choice Awards 2015 recently. On this list, topped by the Italian city, Florence, Budapest is the second one, followed by Vienna. Paris, Rome, Prague and London can be found in top 10, as well, but all of them can be found behind Budapest.

The editors of the travel magazine added their critique to all the cities in the top 30. “With some of the best Art Nouveau architecture in Europe, scenic Budapest has no bad angles. Explore the Hungarian capital’s spa culture with thermal baths built in the 16th and 17th century, and make sure to pay a visit to the ornate New York Kávéház for coffee and a pastry. Walk the Széchenyi Chain Bridge at night over the Danube River for magnificent views, and eat a bowl of traditional gulyás at the three-level Central Market before turning in for the night” – they add about the Hungarian capital.

The best cities in the world, according to Condé Nast Traveler’s readers:
