If the classic maps or Google Maps are boring for you or doesn’t help, try this four special maps that show specific aspects of the Hungarian capital.

The barrier-free map is a really useful thing: a Hungarian start up, Route4U wanted to make the life of disabled people easier and they made it. Route4U lists the barrier-free restaurants, shops, cafes, toilets, parking lots, sidewalks and other places on a map to make urban transport more predictable. Each place’s accessibility classification is marked on the map, just as the roads leading there and the crosswalks. The data is collected by the users and partly by smartphone’s built-in sensors. This map has very useful information not only for those who are in wheelchair, but also for mothers with pram.

We’ve already written about Dénes Sándor’s smart and funny map, but it has guaranteed place on this list as well. This egg-shaped, squeezable, stress ball-like map is the best offline thing we know. The flexible rubber map is hand sized and although it sounds incredible, hides a complex map of Budapest. To see the details of the city you only have to zoom in (squeeze), and information like bus stops and sights will appear. For the easier orientation, the designer marked the different districts with different colors and all means of transport and landmarks got its own icon as well.

If you mainly come to the Hungarian capital to have fun than this map is for you. This music map was created 3 years ago: the creators visited the nightclubs of the city center to find out what songs were played there, and put all these information on an interactive map. They asked for the playlists that dominant atmosphere, and now these compilations can be heard by clicking on the circles. It is true that a number of new locations were opened in the area since then, but the music map is still relevant if you’d like to peer into the party district’s life.

The original idea came from 2013, when an online magazine asked its readers to mark their sexual experiences on a map. One night stands, first kisses, intimate date were welcome. Surprisingly, the first marks were limited to the Margaret Island, but in the last three years the map has been extended a lot, thanks to the enthusiastic readers. The unique feature of the map (in addition to the theme of course) is that users can add comments. Check out how mischievous Hungarians are!
