5 program tips for Valentine’s Day

Do you spend Valentine’s Day in Budapest? Let us give you some program tips where to go, what to do – you will find your favourite even if you are alone, with friends or family.

So sweet!

What can be sweeter than love? Nothing? Well, if you are a fan of quality chocolate and handmade desserts, we suppose that you might have been hesitating a little bit. Are we right? So why don’t you take your other half to a really nice chocolate and pálinka tasting on 14 February, in the afternoon? In the Chocolate Museum of Budapest, a program called “Enchanted Valentine’s Day” will be organized. There will be two groups: you can start your tour from 2:30 pm or 5:45 pm, with a paper heart on your clothes, on which you can write the name of your love. At the end of the museum tour and tasting, you can make your own chocolate. Sweet, isn’t it?

Get on a boat!

For something even more romantic, we suggest you to go for a sightseeing boat tour and have dinner on the boat. There is a program called Valentine’s Day Cruise – there is sightseeing, live music and romantic dinner included. The beautiful lights of Budapest will be there to make the evening even more memorable for both of you!

Stand-up comedy

If you speak some Hungarian, and would like to hear some funny talk instead of romantic stuff, we have a program tip for you: on 14 February at 7 pm, Péter Aranyosi and Balázs Beliczai will be waiting for everyone with their stand-ups at Dumaszínház, and at 7:30 pm, László Hadházi and András Péter Kovács will join Aranyosi for some more fun. Come with Hungarian friends or alone, we are sure that you will feel quite entertained here.

Home alone

‘Home alone’ films are usually in the Christmas program of Hungarian TV channel RTL Klub, but if you decide to spend Valentine’s Day at home, alone, wondering what to watch on DVD, well, this can be one of the best choices. Are you a little bit more bloodthirsty this evening? Start (or continue) to watch Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead. If you would prefer something lighter (and maybe cuter), The Secret Life of Pets is my absolute favourite – as the stepmom of a cute little Westie dog, I am sure that you will hug your pet (if you have one) a thousand times while watching this movie.
