7 “wonders” to see in Budapest this spring
Posted by Mia Balogh · Apr 21, 2017

Our capital city is fascinating in every season, especially at springtime. Don’t you believe it? To convince you of that, we have listed seven “wonders” you should see here.

1, Cherry blossom – pure beauty

Budapest has several parks and blooming botanical gardens where you can enjoy cherry blossom. Just sit down on a bench, look around, make some beautiful snaps and enjoy! You won’t regret that you have chosen Budapest instead of Tokyo. ;)

2, Don’t miss these food festivals

Food festivals are already noted in our agendas, like Food Truck Show (5-7 May), Rosalia Festival (12-14 May) and Gourmet Festival (18-21 May). Which one do you choose?

3, Enjoy some street food

Street food is chic now in Budapest, especially if you buy it from a food truck. We suggest you to try Las Vegan’s plant-based burgers – these can be your new favourites, even if you are not a vegan.

4, Ride the Budapest Eye

Would you like to see Budapest from a bird eye view? Than you can’t miss Budapest Eye! The 55-meter-tall Ferris wheel can be found easily at Erzsébet Square, and a ride costs 2400 forints per adults and 1500 forints per kids.

5, Try Zugliget Chairlift

If you prefer admiring the city a bit longer from above, and you like going for a hike, as well, we suggest you to visit Buda Hills and try Zugliget Chairlift. The so-called “Libegő” is a 1 km long cable-suspended conveyance connecting Zugliget with János Hill. A retour trip costs 1400 HUF but if you have time only for a one-way trip, we suggest you to start at János Hill because you can enjoy the view while travelling downhills.

6, Don’t miss the BKK boats

Do you prefer cruising? Fortunately, Budapest offers several possibilities for that, too, from boat tours to cheaper BKK boats. These are part of the public transport system of the city, and transport passengers to several stops in the city, on both sides of the Danube. You can buy your ticket for one of these on the boat (750 HUF) or if you have a public transport pass, you can enjoy a free ride on weekdays. On weekends, it costs 750 HUF for adults.

7, Markets

Markets are our favourite places if we can travel, and of course we love these spots in Budapest, too. Whether you choose an art market, a Sunday market at one of the ruin pubs or Great Market Hall, we are sure that you will enjoy it (and you can buy great food, fresh fruits and vegetables and nice souvenirs there, as well).
