In our new series we intend to give you a glimpse of the most exciting events expected for this year in Budapest.

January

Caffeine Festival

If you can’t imagine life without coffee, tea, energy drinks and other treats with caffeine, don’t miss Caffeine Festival on the last weekend of January. Hundreds of programs and sweet seductions will make these days even more memorable for you – there will be no time to sleep.

Wedding Exhibition

Are you dreaming about a fascinating wedding in Budapest? Well, the city has everything that can make your big day really memorable, and you can choose anything you desire at the annual Wedding Exhibition, on the last weekend of January.

Gateway to Space

An exhibition that can take you to the Moon and back – well, almost. Gateway to Space gives you historic overview of space travel and also the experience of being an astronaut. The exhibition will spend two months in Budapest, you can visit it until the middle of March at the Millenáris.

February

Mangalica Festival

Taste several dishes made of the well-known Hungarian Mangalica pig’s meat, drink some pálinka or wine, or just enjoy the programs and the live music at Szabadság Square. Entry is free, the memories will be lasting.

Ball of Hungarian Wines

Annual elite event of the Hungarian wine lovers, connected with a five-course ball dinner and some rounds at the casino of the elegant Intercontinental Hotel.

Torkos csütörtök – ‘Fat Thursday’

‘Fat Thursday’ has a funny name (suggests the last greasy meal before Lenten fasting begins), but the message of it is quite serious: you can eat your meals chosen at any of the many participating restaurants and eateries at a 50% discount. It is worth reserving!

March

15 March - Public Holiday

This national holiday commemorates the 1848 Hungarian Revolution against the Austrian Empire, with political speeches and military processions on Kossuth Lajos Square and the Hungarian National Museum. There will be family activities at the Buda Castle, too. It is also important to mention that shops are closed on this day, and there are usually some changes concerning the public transport, as well.

International Macaron Day

Do you like macarons? If you do, you should participate in the programs of the International Macaron Day, held in Budapest on the same day as Paris and New York. Try it and learn how to make it at home, if you would like to.
