May Day or Labor Day is usually about beer, frankfurter and the so-called ‘majális’ but why don’t you try something special this year? Let us give you a couple of more special program tips for that.
Circus World in Ice
If you would like to start your day with a really special experience, then get some tickets to Circus World in Ice – Children of Antarctica in the Hungarian State Circus. The show begins at 11 am so you don’t have to get up too early, but if you prefer to begin the day even later, no problem: there are some seats available for the show at 3 pm, as well.

The weather forecast is optimistic for 1 May so you can plan some outdoor activities, as well. You still don’t feel like going to the family programs of a ‘majális’ in the city? Then let us suggest something more informative: at 2 pm, you can try a Segway and participate at a Segway tour so you can have fun, get more info about Budapest and see a totally different face of our beautiful capital.

‘Majális’ in Esztergom – procession of ships with lanterns
‘Majális’ can last for several days, with lots of gastro-, family-, entertaining- and music programs. The celebration in Esztergom will last for three days, from 29 April to 1st May, and one of the most spectacular programs there will definitely be the procession of ships with lanterns. You can see a couple of snaps about it in the following short video that gives a compilation about last year’s events: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL-ebM-OF6M
