Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant opens in Budapest

We’ve been waiting for so long and here it is: Jamie Oliver’s first Central European ‘Jamie’s Italian’ restaurant has opened its gates in Budapest.

With over 60 restaurants worldwide, we can say without exaggeration that Jamie Oliver is a successful restauranteur. And yes, we all love to see how he cooks in the TV and how the 41-year-old celebrity chef makes amazing dishes after his favourite Italian recipes, for example.

Well, we can’t see him cook in his newest Jamie’s Italian restaurant, opened at the end of May in the Castle District of Budapest, but we can enjoy the best dishes of the menu offered by his restaurant.

“Opening a restaurant in Budapest is hugely exciting. Our first site is right in the heart of the Castle District, which has got to be one of the most beautiful places to be opening a restaurant. We’re working with a fantastic local partner, and we’re already on the hunt for brilliant suppliers and producers. I can’t wait to get the doors open” – Jamie writes on the restaurant’s website.

Jamie’s Italian is inspired by Jamie’s passion for the Italian way of life: “Since I was a teenager I’ve been totally besotted by the love, passion and verve for food, family and life itself that just about all Italian people have, no matter where they’re from or how rich or poor they might be. And that’s what I’m passionate about – good food for everyone, no matter what… But the thing I love most about the Italians is that somehow, although they have some of the best fashion designers and cars in the world, they’ve managed to retain a unique sense of tradition and village spirit” – he says.

I haven’t been so lucky to test this spot yet but my friend Nora has been there with her fiancé. “We’ve been there on Saturday, after the opening and we think that it’s a stylish, cosy place. It was very crowded but we were ok with that. The only thing that we didn’t really like was the style of our waiter and well, we must say that the prices are not really cheap either but visiting Jamie’s Italian in the Castle District was a really good experience altogether” – she said.
