5 tips how to warm up in chilly Budapest
Posted by Mia Balogh · Jan 29, 2017

The weather is still quite cold in the Hungarian capital but if you follow our tips, you can warm yourself up quickly.

Visit the thermal baths and spas!

You can go to the well-known thermal baths and spas in Budapest all year round but now, when the temperatures outside are so low, it is high time to enjoy the warm water and the hot steam inside. In Széchenyi Bath, you can even try how it feels to enjoy the outdoor pool in this cold. Don’t worry, the water in the pool is hot so you won’t be cold or catch cold.

Drink pálinka!

My grandparents used to have a pálinka in cold winter mornings, because this strong alcohol makes your throat and your whole body feel warmer, disinfects your throat, oesophagus and stomach, and helps kill the germs (if you have already some in this cold weather).

Hot drinks

If you don’t drink alcohol, but you are cold during sightseeing, just visit the next tea house or café – in the city, you will find plenty of them. Order a nice tea or coffee and eat a delicious cake, so I’m sure that you will be warmed up in a couple of minutes. If you prefer hot chocolate, you can choose old and new favourites at the Hot Chocolate Festival, organized between 16 and 19 February. Training and sauna

When I was a little girl and I told my mum I was cold, she always told me to move or jump a little bit. It was quite a good advice because when we move, we warm up our body step by step. I suggest you to try any of the best gyms of Budapest – see our list here: http://budnews.hu/index.php?node=news&id=510 – and at the end of your workout, don’t miss the sauna. You will feel refreshed and more alive than ever.

Music to warm up your heart and soul

Let’s hope that February won’t be as chilly as the first month of 2017, but if the temperatures are still low, let’s find a nice club or a good concert and let music warm up your heart and soul. For example, there will be a nice music program dedicated to the most exciting songs of The Beatles, presented by the well-known The BlackBeats on 9 February, on A38 ship.
