Jane Goodall comes to Hungary

After two years, Budapest is more than happy to welcome Dame Jane Goodall again.

We are sure that you have already heard the name of Dame Jane Goodall – the well-known primatologist and researcher visits Hungary on 17 and 18 May. On 17 May, she will participate at a special conversation held at Eötvös Loránd University with Hungarian reporter Tamás Frei. They will talk about a sustainable lifestyle in the western world which does not damage less developed countries.

On the following day, she will inaugurate a nature trail named after her in Budapest’s second district. This event will be designed for children primarily, and Goodall will talk of her own initiative called Roots and Shoots (this is an initiative for the environmental education of children). The trail will be open to visitors from April 15 but will be inaugurated a little bit later by the researcher herself.

Jane Goodall is considered the world’s most prominent researcher of chimpanzees’ behaviour. A founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, she has worked on conservation and animal welfare issues. So it is not a wonder that – after all her years’ long hard work – in April 2002, she was named a UN Messenger of Peace.
