We've always said that Budapest is beautiful, inspiring and a must-see destination, but it's so good, when an independent research shows the same thing. Mastercard did its annual „Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index” research, which ranks cities around the world by popularity, and this year Budapest became the 32th on the list. This is better with seven places than last year's ranking. In 2017 almost 6 million foreigners visited Budapest, spending 5 days here on average, and they spent nearly 3 billion dollar.

The most popular city in the world became Bangkok with more than 20 million visitors, the second is London, with almost 20 million, and third place on the podium is for Paris, that had 17.5 million visitors in 2017. The ten most popular cities also includes Dubai, Singapore, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Istanbul and Seoul.

Based on the money spent, Dubai is at the top of the list, guests spent almost 30 billion dollar here last year. The second one is Mecca and the third is London with 18.5 and 17.5 billion spent.
