Our capital overtook for example Vienna and Prague.
The Global Destination Cities Index by Mastercard is not only a list, it is an annual report which shows that tourism is blooming: more and more people are travelling internationally, and they are spending more and more money each year.
But let’s step on to one of the most important questions: which city is the most popular destination in the world? The answer might be not so surprising for those who remember the results of the last few years.
“This year, Mastercard’s Global Destination Cities Index reveals Bangkok as the No. 1 city for the fourth consecutive year while Paris overtakes London for the No. 2 spot” - they write.
And where is Budapest on the list? Unfortunately, our capital didn’t manage to make it into the top 10 – and into the top 20 either – but being listed 25th, Budapest still has a quite good position and overtakes Prague (28th) and Vienna (33rd).
Top 10 destination cities according to the Global Destination Cities Index:
1 Bangkok
2 Paris
3 London
4 Dubai
5 Singapore
6 Kuala Lumpur
7 New York
8 Istanbul
9 Tokyo
10 Antalya
