Video: Budapest as you have never seen before
Posted by Mia Balogh · Apr 1, 2020

This is not a post-apocalyptic movie, this is Budapest nowadays.

If you like watching post-apocalyptic movies or TV series, you might have imagined the world or your city after a zombie attack or a deadly virus, for example.

Well, the following video is not a film trailer, it was shot in Budapest during the first days of the coronavirus pandemic. In Hungary, people (especially elderly citizens) were warned to stay at home to avoid possible contaminations so the streets of Budapest are deserted – as you can see it in this short film.

Take a quick and lonely walk on the empty streets in the city centre, deserted metro stations and public transport vehicles. Take a look at Vörösmarty Square, Fashion Street, the Parliament building, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Liberty Bridge, Budapest Eye, Deák Square, Heroes’ Square and Buda Castle. You will see these places and sights and Budapest as you have never seen these before.

Filmmaker Botond Nahimi’s video was inspired by the movie Contagion and it was uploaded to YouTube with the following message: ‘Budapest is empty. Stay home’.

See you when this is all over. Until then, please stay safe.
