How to spend the finish of the U.S. presidential race in Budapest
Posted by Mia Balogh · Oct 25, 2016

If you spend the ‘final countdown’ of the U.S. Elections in Budapest, you don’t have to be stuck in your hotel room and watch the news channels to stay tuned for updates.

On 8 November, citizens of the United States vote for their new President. Who will help make history in the next four years, Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald J. Trump? The question is quite important, the pressure is getting higher.

Here in Budapest, everyone is welcome to hear the answer as it is revealed live at the grand U.S. Election Night Party. The gala will be hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Budapest. Up to 1,200 participants are expected for the event - being held in the historic ballroom of the opulent Corinthia Hotel - in 2016.

All-inclusive tickets are available for 8400 HUF and the organizers suggest everyone to purchase their tickets really soon, because they usually run out of entry cards before ‘the big night’ of 8 November.

What can you expect from this gala, if you choose to wait for the results here? Well, the night’s program kicks off with welcoming remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Hungary Colleen Bell. After that, guests can watch a live introduction to the presidential candidates and check out a free guide about the election system.

During the night, you can watch live video feeds from major U.S. news networks (they give you results as soon as the poll closes). To make the tension more bearable, you can snack American delicacies and have drinks from multiple cocktail bars. Besides, you can participate in a mock election or test your knowledge on U.S. history.

And one more important detail: there is no party without music. Enjoy the fantastic performance of the Hungarian Air Force Band, and have a great time, whatever the results will be (of course, we know that this is an important question, as well).

Free conference in Gödör Klub

If you want to know more about the U.S. Presidential Election, and you would like to hear some opinions and debates in this subject, we highly recommend you to participate in a free conference, which will be held in Gödör Klub on 3 November. Of course it requires an advanced level in Hungarian but if you are already very good at understanding our language, this conference can be quite interesting for you. Entry is for free but you need a registration via e-mail.
