Our short compilation gives you a glimpse into the films and series that will be shot in our capital this year, and of course into the list of celebrities who you can bump into in Budapest in 2017.

Red Sparrow - Jennifer Lawrence

One of the biggest stars to work in Budapest this year is Jennifer Lawrence. The 26-year-old Oscar-winner actress has already arrived to the Hungarian capital on 2 January and is currently struggling with the colt. She has even brought her puppy called Pippi and kept the little dog warm under her coat. Besides, the star has changed her hair colour from blonde to brown for her upcoming film Red Sparrow, which is to be filmed in Budapest. In the movie, directed by Francis Lawrence, she plays the role of Putin’s secret service’s attractive spy, whose most effective weapon is her appeal.

Robin Hood: Origins – Jamie Dornan

If you are a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey, we have some good news for you: you can bump into Mr. Grey, aka Jamie Dornan because his new movie, an alternative Robin Hood story will be shot in the streets of Budapest (and Dubrovnik). Jamie Dornan will play the role of Marian’s husband in the film, which will be in cinemas from March 2018.

The Alienist – Daniel Brühl

If you have seen Good Bye, Lenin! then you must remember Daniel Brühl, too. Well, he will also visit Budapest this year, to play the role of criminal psychologist Dr Laszlo Kreizler (so his character even got a Hungarian name) in Jakob Verbruggen’s series. Brühl will team up with an investigating journalist, played by Luke Evans to find New York’s first serial killer.

The Terror

In 1847, a mysterious predator attacks the participants of an arctic expedition. The series, based on Dan Simmons’ bestseller, promise that several actors known from Game of Thrones can be seen on TV screen again, for example Ciaran Hinds. And for last, but not least: you can also see Outlander’s Tobias Menzies fight the predator.
