Michelin Starred Restaurants in Budapest

In the last few years, four restaurants earned Michelin Stars in Budapest. In our article, we would like to present these places shortly, and to inform you about the latest one, Tanti, the new arrival on the list of this “fantastic four”.

In the 34th Michelin Guide, we can find already four Michelin Starred restaurants in Hungary. The new arrival, Tanti, in the 12th district of Budapest, joined the impressive list this year, owing to its great dishes and simple artistry. In our article, we intend to present Tanti and the three other restaurants awarded with Michelin Stars in the Hungarian capital earlier.

Costes

Costes was the first restaurant in Hungary to get a Michelin Star. The whole country learned the name of the place, which is one of the best restaurants today, too. Stylish and elegant, Costes Restaurant is all about forgetting the outside world for a couple of hours. There is no dress code in the restaurant, so the time you spend there can be more relaxed - you will have the possibility to enjoy top international cuisine with some Hungarian touches in a more comfortable way. The service is friendly, and dishes on the constantly changing menu are prepared with the best fresh ingredients.

Borkonyha/ Winekitchen

As a blend of a French-style bistro and a contemporary family restaurant, Winekitchen is offering the best of Hungarian cuisine and a wide and diverse wine list. “Our wine assortment includes 200 different, mostly Hungarian wines that represent not only the well-known wineries, but also small and yet-to-be-discovered cellars” – they say about themselves. The cuisine of the restaurant situated near St. Stephen’s Basilica is based on fresh ingredients and on the weekly-fortnightly changing offers written on the black board. Their chef, Ákos Sárközi works with them from the first moments.

Tanti

The newest Michelin Starred restaurant in Budapest is Tanti, where classic and current trends meet. The place became successful quickly: it was opened in September 2014, and this year, we can already read the name of the restaurant among the Michelin Starred ones! Editor of the 34th Michelin Guide, Rebecca Burr wrote about the place that she loved the great cooking and simple artistry she got there. “This is a stylish modern restaurant and the kitchen delivers ‘clean’, fresh flavours and shows a real understanding of ingredients” – she added.
