The next 7 days are all about dance.
I don’t know what about you but I’m so excited about all dance-themed events I can’t even express. One of my favorite is the Budapest Dance Festival held between February 24 and March 3: there will be so many exciting dance-related programs that I could hardly choose what to recommend. The festival organized by the National Dance Theatre brings two international productions, two Budapest premieres, presents two chamber pieces, and dance/theater educational lectures are also included.
Ballet Preljocaj, one of the dominant figures of French contemporary dance scene is staged with two dance pieces. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo from New York is a major dance phenomenon throughout the world, and why wouldn’t they: a bunch of ballet enthusiast men dancing ballet for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form. There are no women dancers in the company at all; every ethereal role is danced by muscular, hairy men.

And of course many other productions are included in the festival program: Szeged Contemporary Ballet presents Subjects | Shadows and Desires | Moderato Cantabile, the Ballet Pécs comes on stage with Swan lake, Rita Góbi and Duna Dance Workshop, Central Europe Dance Theatre… these are just a few names of the list. There also will be lectures on dance / theater performances as a complementary program of the Dance Festival. For more information visit: tancszinhaz.hu.
